Robin Hamilton is an orthopedic certified physical therapy specialist and has been practicing since 2009.  She is originally from the Bay Area and grew up as a gymnast for 10 years before moving on to diving in high school and college.  Robin moved to LA to attend Whittier College where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2004 and then her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles in 2009.

During and after graduate school Robin was a lecture professor and teacher’s assistant teaching anatomy and physiology lab to undergraduate pre-nursing students at Mount Saint Mary’s University for 5 years.  Since then she has been a clinical instructor mentoring physical therapy students during their internships in each clinic she has worked.

Robin began her career in an outpatient orthopedic clinic utilizing Pilates equipment and philosophies for physical therapy treatments.  She also spent some time practicing home health physical therapy working with deconditioned elderly and with patients after joint replacements.

Robin then moved to the Bay Area for 4 years to work at an outpatient orthopedic clinic as well as she taught the physical therapy portion of a functional restoration program.  This involved working alongside doctors and psychologists in a program to help those with work related injuries who also have chronic pain.  During this time, she educated patients about what chronic pain is and about the importance of calming one’s fears of movement and injury to return to function.

Throughout her career Robin has taken many continuing education courses including 2 yearlong courses in manual therapy and 2 6-month long courses in movement analysis.  Other continuing education courses include training in: myofascial decompression (cupping), return to sport training, return to work functional capacity examinations, and a 6 month advanced training program utilizing video motion analysis software for movement re-education and return to sport analysis with Chris Powers, PT, Professor, Biokinesiology & Physical Therapy at USC.  Education and experience throughout her career has shaped her philosophy that our habitual postures and movement behaviors are the root cause of our orthopedic injuries and that a path towards restoration of function begins with creating new postural and movement habits.

Robin is a Board Certified Orthopedic Physical Therapy Specialist and a Certified Movement Links Specialist.  Outside of physical therapy, Robin enjoys riding her bike on the strand, being at the beach, snowboarding, hiking in Malibu, as well as, getting fresh produce at the farmer’s markets to fuel her love of cooking and juicing.
